Adam does it again. It's SO unbelievably refreshing to know that not EVERYONE out there has completely lost their minds. Now we just need to change the cover photo to a sign the reads "Welcome to CHAZ/CHOP!" so some of these woke warriors can get a little dose of logic. I'm probably too old to enter a comedy club anyway, but after reading more than 30 percent of this book (so far) I decided to stop reading, momentarily, in order to give it a positive review. A positive review despite disagreeing with, and even being irritated by, some of the statements it contains.Why positive? Adam Carolla is a comedian and a social commentator, and he is genuinely funny and creative. (He's also a writer, obviously, and even an engaging actor, as the charming, little-known gem "The Hammer" from 2007 will amply demonstrate). So reading this book is a bit like entering a comedy club and being treated to (or subjected to, if you find it offensive) an extended comedy routine.But you probably know one of the aphorisms about comedy: every good joke contains a surprising kernal of truth. And there are several such surprising kernals in this casual read, waiting to be popped. However, we might not all agree upon which of them are true.If coarse, ribald language will offend or disappoint you -- of the sort you might well hear in an adult comedy club -- then I fear that this might not be to your liking. But if you can concentrate instead on the humor and the underlying truths provided -- even though which truths are present can be sincerely debated -- then you may instead find this a timely and even rather courageous commentary on some of the foibles of our culture.I can't agree with Mr. Carolla's every perspective. But he is, and has before been, a welcome relief to some of the grim, humorless certainty to which we are too often subjected. If you are not humorless, and sometimes tire of a solemn, tedious conformity, you may find much to like in this book, as well.
